Established in 1929. The main purpose of Long Beach Playhouse is to put on theatre for the community, by the community. As one of the oldest arts organizations in the City of Long Beach, the Long Beach Playhouse has always strived to provide the community with entertainment and culture through theatrical productions. The Playhouse mission is to celebrate the human experience while encouraging the participation of artist and audience alike. All of the performers and other volunteers are local community members, pursuing their artistic passions to share with our surrounding community. The Playhouse is a place for everyone, offering a wide range of shows throughout the year, so there is something for everyone. On top of the Playhouse's own 13 productions, each year the Playhouse also partners with individual artists and other arts organizations for our 'Collaborative Series'. The series expands what the Playhouse can share with our audiences, a dance troupe putting on weekend of performances, or an improv comedy team making up things on the spot with suggestions from the audience.
